 Āhāra: The Yogic Science of Nourishment

A 3 Day Holistic Retreat into the Science & Philosophy of Healing

This 3-day immersive retreat offers a deep exploration of root-cause healing, drawing from Nutrition Science, Nature Cure, Yoga philosophy, and Vedanta. The program helps you understand how the body heals when the right conditions are created. Through a blend of theory and hands-on practices, you’ll learn simple, actionable tools that support the body’s innate intelligence and restore balance. Designed for real life, the retreat emphasizes sustainable lifestyle shifts that nurture long-term health and wellbeing.

 

Key Focus:

DAY 1 – AAHARA (Food as Nourishment, Medicine & Consciousness)

Understanding food beyond calories – food for the body, mind, and inner intelligence

Objectives:

  • Understand food from Nutrition Science, Natural Science & Yoga Philosophy.
  • Redefine food: Learn to identify what is food and what is not food.
  • Panchabhutas as Food.
  • Role of mind in Food choices and the effect of Food on the state/guna of the mind.

 

DAY 2 – VIHARA (Lifestyle That Supports Healing)

Why food alone is not enough.

Objectives:

  • Understand lifestyle pillars of health.
  • Learn elimination, movement & sleep as healing tools and begin the practice.
  • Understand & design fibre-rich meals to prevent lifestyle diseases.

 

DAY 3 – VICHARA (Mind, Choices & Conscious Living)

Healing the mind to help adopt & sustain healthy choices.

Objectives:

  • Understand why knowledge doesn’t translate into action.
  • Learn how to train the mind.
  • Yoga Philosophy: Panchakosha and food for each sheath.
  • Apply Vedanta for daily decision-making to make the right choices.

The Details of the Retreat are as follows:

*Suitable age group 18 years and above* Open for all, no prior knowledge is required.

Date and timings: Starts on the 21st August (Friday) at 9:00 AM and concludes on 23rd August (Sunday) 2026 at 4:30 PM.

Venue: Indica Gurukulam @Ritambhara, No. 69, BMTC Layout, Adjacent to Kammasandra Village, Lakshmipura-Hobli.

The Retreat Place, located just on the outskirts of Bangalore city, is a small beautiful space dedicated to Yoga and spiritual studies and practices in a simple and clean environment adjacent to a farm of its own.

Workshop Contribution: Rs 8,250/- per person. The fees are inclusive of boarding, lodging and teaching plus resource materials.

Accommodation: Shared accommodation will be provided

Food: Simple sāttvik food with fresh-grown vegetables from the farm.

Reaching the Venue: The venue is about 22 km from Majestic Bus Stand and is accessible through Magadi Road and Tumkur Road, preferably through your own vehicles. The retreat centre is very close to “Sri Kamadhenu Kshetra”, a highly popular Raghavendra Swamy temple, which has become much-known in recent years. It would take approximately an hour to reach the retreat venue from the city centre. Participants have to make their own arrangements to travel to the venue. If any assistance is required, the Indica Yoga Team will help.

Metro Rail Access: Take Green Line, get down at Madavara Metro Station. From there, it takes 25 mins (9.2 km) via Lakshmipura Road by Auto Rickshaw / Taxi.

Holistic WFPB Nutritionist
