Bhagavad Gita for Modern Minds

The Retreat will be led by

Bhagavad Gita for Modern Minds

A 2 Day Retreat on the Timeless Wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita

The Bhagavad Gita is one of the world’s most profound guides to living a meaningful, balanced, and purposeful life. Yet many people find its teachings difficult to approach because of unfamiliar language, philosophical depth, or cultural context. This retreat is designed to make the wisdom of the Gita simple, practical, and relevant to contemporary life.

Drawing upon a carefully selected set of verses from the Bhagavad Gita, we will explore the essential teachings of Vedanta in a clear and accessible manner. Whether you are completely new to the Gita or have studied it before, the retreat offers a structured journey into its central insights, combining philosophical inquiry with practical reflection and discussion.

Together, we will examine some of life’s most fundamental questions:

The Details of the Retreat are as follows:

  • What is the true goal of human life?
  • Why do we experience stress, dissatisfaction, fear, and inner conflict?
  • What are the obstacles that prevent us from living with clarity and fulfilment?
  • How can we overcome these obstacles through wisdom, self-awareness, and disciplined action?
  • Who am I beyond my roles, thoughts, and emotions?
  • What does the Gita mean by God, the Divine, or the Ultimate Reality?
  • How can spirituality become a living experience rather than merely a belief?

The retreat will introduce participants to the practical disciplines of Karma Yoga—the art of acting effectively without becoming burdened by anxiety and attachment—and Dhyana Yoga, the path of cultivating attention, inner stillness, and self-understanding through meditation.

Rather than treating the Gita as a religious text alone, we will approach it as a universal guide to understanding the human mind, navigating life’s challenges, and discovering deeper meaning and purpose. The sessions will include presentations, guided reflections, discussions, and opportunities for personal inquiry, making the teachings both engaging and applicable to daily life.

The retreat is based on the recently published book Essence of the Bhagavad Gita for Modern Minds, by the retreat facilitator, Sri Gokul Muthu ji, which presents the Gita’s teachings in a manner that speaks directly to the questions and concerns of modern seekers.

Whether you are looking for intellectual clarity, practical guidance, spiritual depth, or simply a fresh perspective on life, Bhagavad Gita for Modern Minds offers an invitation to engage with one of humanity’s greatest wisdom traditions in a thoughtful, contemporary, and transformative way.
