DESCRIPTION:43rd Online Symposium On  \nIKS Studies On  \nSTATECRAFT\, POLITICAL THOUGHT & GOVERNANCE \nINDICA is organizing a symposium on IKS Studies on Statecraft\, Political Thought and Governance with the objective of exploring the so far unexamined sources and aspects in this area of IKS. The symposium will be held over two days\, 27th and 28th September 2025 (Saturday and Sunday). \nExperts will present papers covering story-compilation texts like Panchatantra\, Hitopadesha\, the Vetala and Vikramarka story cycle\, and Shukopadesha; Ramayana\, Mahabharata and other Itihasa-Purana texts; Sanskrit Kavya texts such as Shishupalavadha\, Kiratarjuneeyam and Raghuvamsham; Artha Shastra works like Kautilya’s Artha Shastra and Shukranitisara; Vaishampayana’s Nitiprakashika; Dharma Shastra works like Medhatithi’s Manubhashya; Jain works such as Nitivakyamrita; historical sources including inscriptions and Ajnapatras; and Niti or Subhashita works like the Tirukkural. \nScholars will highlight micro-level aspects such as Rajanaya (diplomacy) and intriguing topics like Upeksha (overlooking as a strategy). One of the talks will provide a framework for understanding the texts in this area.
