Namaskaram,
Since 2016, INDICA’s Grateful2Gurus initiative has honoured over a hundred fifty living gurus across various disciplines of Indian Knowledge Systems, Culture and Traditions.
Grateful2Gurus is not simply an award in the modern sense. For us it is an act of expressing gratitude to our civilisational heritage and also a responsibility to carry on the legacy that we are privileged to be born into. Through this initiative we seek to restore the primacy of the guru–śiṣya paramparā. It is a reminder that knowledge in Bhārat is not transmitted by institutions, but by scholars and practitioners embodying it.
Over the years, Grateful2Gurus has become one of INDICA’s most sacred observances. Through this platform students, seekers and the community can publicly bow to those who have shaped our minds and lives.
From this year, we are expanding Grateful2Gurus into a full-day of celebration not just of our living Gurus but even those that have blessed us in the past and whose lineage continues to date.
INDICA GURU UTSAVA
We envisage the day to unfold in two streams :
Part I | Guru- Shishya Paramparā in Motion ( Day Long)
We begin with celebrating the lives of past Gurus. Students who are continuing their lineage will present the background and contribution of the Guru to the domain in which the parampara lives and how they are carrying it forward in our time.
We welcome expressions of interest from scholars across disciplines. Scholars are requested to fill the scholar application form. From these, six will be invited to present at the Utsava.
Part II | Grateful2Gurus (Evening Ceremony)
After paying our respects to the past Gurus, we begin our annual celebrations of living Gurus. Students who seek to honour their Gurus may send in their nominations through the Guru nomination form.
Together, these two streams form INDICA Guru Utsava, a day that celebrates the ongoing transmission of Indian Knowledge Systems, Culture and Traditions.
Travel and accommodation arrangements will be made for the
- Selected presenters &
- Gurus being felicitated in the evening
We are eagerly looking forward to celebrating the Guru-Shishya Parampara on this Guru Purnima, on 29 July 2026, in New Delhi.
