Indica Yoga is pleased to announce the launch of Yoga Foundation Course (YFC) program –

Aligned with Indica Yoga’s commitment to bring about authentic, immersive and transformative Yoga teachings and experiences, this foundation course has been specially designed by the best of scholar-practitioner-teachers from the Yoga community focusing on the quintessential aspects of the Yoga philosophy and practice – keeping in mind the requirements of a beginner, who is keen to further deepen their understanding of Yoga. This course will also offer systematic introduction to Yogasutras, Sanskrit, Mantra chanting, Ayurveda and Vedanta.

This 8-day foundation course will cover the wide range of Yoga topics and prepares the participant to get a taste of ancient Yogic wisdom through multi-teacher and multi-tradition approach to training by integrating the Holistic, Scientific and Spiritual dimensions of Yoga. This will be a Residential Course in a serene ashram ambience of Indica Ritambhara Retreat, situated at the outskirts of Bengaluru. Close to the city, yet far from the common din.

YFC will serve as a preparatory course for future offerings of Indica Yoga which intend to enable interested and committed Yoga aspirants to immerse in deeper understanding of Yoga while preparing them to be teachers.

Food: Simple sattvik vegetarian food with fresh grown vegetables from the farm will be provided.

Venue: Ritambhara Retreat, No. 69, BMTC Layout, Adjacent to Kammasandra Village, Lakshmipura Hobli.

The Retreat, located just on the outskirts of Bangalore city, is a small beautiful space dedicated to Yoga & spiritual studies and practices in a simple and clean environment adjacent to a farm of its own.

Reaching the Retreat Venue: The venue is about 22 kms from Majestic Bus Stand and is accessible through Magadi Road and Tumkur Road preferably through own vehicles. The retreat center is very close to ‘Kamadhenu Kshetra’ – a highly popular Raghavendra Swamy temple in the last few years. It would take about an hour to reach the retreat venue from the heart of the city. Participants have to make their own arrangements. If any assistance is required Indica Yoga Team will help.

Dr Vinayachandra Banavathy

Director, INDICA YOGA

Dr. Vinayachandra Banavathy is the Director of Indica Yoga, an Indic Academy platform that offers authentic, immersive and transformative yoga experiences across the world. He holds a PhD on psychological insights in the Vedas from Pondicherry University, besides Master’s in Sanskrit, English, Yogic Science and Applied Psychology. He is a dedicated teacher who travels across the world conducting courses, lectures and workshops on a unique blend of Yoga, Psychology and Sanskrit. His publications include a report on Standardization of Yoga Terminologies for WHO; a book co-edited with Dr. Anuradha Choudry titled ‘Perspectives on Indian Psychology’, published by Jain University Press, another book co-authored titled ‘Happiness: Indic Perspectives’, published by Development Foundation, besides a few articles, papers, booklets on Yoga, Indian Psychology, Culture and Spirituality.

Dr Jayaraman Mahadevan

Director -Textual Research INDICA YOGA

Dr Jayaraman Mahadevan is the Director -Textual Research for Yoga at Indica. Sri Jayaraman holds a PhD in – Sanskrit from the University of Madras (2006-2010). He creditably completed his under graduation (Education, Philosophy, English Literature) and post-graduation (Sanskrit) with gold medal and first rank in both the degrees. He underwent traditional Gurukula education, in Vedas and Shastras (1998-2005), in Veda Vijnana Gurukulam, Bengaluru, under Pracarya Kotemane Ramachandra Bhat. He served the research department of Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, Chennai, in the capacity of Assistant Director (2010-2015) initially and later as Director (2015-2021). Thus far, he has published 14 books and 14 peer reviewed Journal articles and numerous popular articles on Yoga and Sanskrit literature in English, Tamil and Sanskrit languages. He is also involved in developing immersive learning methods of Yoga texts. ‘Yogasya Bhasha’ a four part self-learning material on Sanskrit and Yoga, ‘Yoga-vaisharadi’ – a searchable web-repository on classical texts of Yoga are a few of his noteworthy contributions in recent times. His workshops on “Tantrayukti – Ancient Indian thesis/text construction methodology” are well received. His passion also lies in composing Sanskrit poetry on contemporary themes.
