Yoga Sangraha | In Person Workshop

Yoga Sangraha is a practice of classical Yoga using science and the Hatha Yoga traditions as a sourcebook. Sangraha means “a collection” or “compendium,” and the practices taught are drawn from various sources in the Hatha Yoga traditions. They are largely calming and grounding sequences of asanas and Pranayamas that influence the signaling of the nervous system and brain-body connection.

This class is an all-levels practice, that combines a variety of static and dynamic poses, strengthening practices, practices from Indic exercise traditions, and relaxation techniques.

Pranayama level 1
This is an introductory pranayama practice where you will learn how to slow the breath down in order to bring a deep calm to the nervous system. It is an accessible, gentle, but highly effective practice, suitable for all levels. In this introctory class, you will learn four techniques that can be used for daily or occasional practice. There are no complicated breathing patterns or breath holds, just a simple approach to using the breath to quiet the nervous system and mind, in a way that naturally prepares you for meditation.

Yoga, the brain, and human development
We all know that Yoga works. It’s been working for thousands of years, tuning people into their essential nature of consciousness, and creating greater levels of health and happiness in untold millions of people. Yoga was traditionally called the Yoga Vidya, which means the science and knowledge of Yoga. The language of science has changed over the past several hundred years, and along with that fascinating pathways have been described that seem to be the same pathways that make Yoga so effective. In this lecture, we will look at two of these important pathways, one which describes the brain to body communication, and the other which stimulates the healing response of the body.
