The Journey Within

A Mindfulness Retreat for Parents & Teenagers

A two-day immersive experience to help families understand one another more deeply—and grow together.

28–30 August 2026 | Indica Gurukulam @ Ritambhara, Bengaluru

The relationship between parents and children is one of the most enduring and evolving relationships in our lives. As we grow and change, so does the way we understand, communicate with, and relate to one another.

What often creates distance is not a lack of love, but difficulty in understanding each other’s inner worlds—the emotions, expectations, fears, and needs that often remain unspoken.

This retreat is a shared journey for parents and children of all ages, as well as those who are expecting or hope to become parents. Over two immersive days, participants will explore how our experiences shape relationships, how stress and emotions influence our interactions, and how greater awareness can deepen connection.

Drawing from psychology, neuroscience, mindfulness, yoga, and contemplative wisdom, the retreat offers experiential practices and practical tools for cultivating greater understanding, communication, and compassion within families.

Together we will explore:

  • Understanding Communication—how communicating with greater empathy rather than frustration.
  • Recognising emotional patterns—learning to identify feelings before they escalate into arguments, withdrawal, or reactive behaviour.
  • Listening to understand, not simply to respond—cultivating deeper conversations where both generations feel genuinely heard, respected, and valued.
  • Managing conflict with awareness—learning how to pause, regulate emotions, and navigate disagreements without blame or defensiveness.
  • Yoga and mindful movement—shared embodied practices that reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and foster connection beyond words.
  • Family meditation practices—simple techniques that cultivate attention, patience, and emotional balance together.
  • Understanding each other’s perspectives—structured reflective exercises that help parents appreciate the pressures teenagers face, while enabling teenagers to recognise the concerns, responsibilities, and intentions behind parental guidance.
  • Technology and attention—exploring healthier relationships with digital devices and creating more intentional moments of family presence.
  • Compassion, gratitude, and resilience—developing habits that strengthen trust and emotional security within the family.
  • Creating meaningful family rituals—designing simple daily and weekly practices that sustain connection long after the retreat concludes.

Retreat Outcomes:

The Journey Within explores relationships from both sides—how we parent, how we have been parented, and how these experiences shape who we become.

Open to parents, children, those hoping to become parents, and anyone wishing to understand these relationships more deeply, the retreat cultivates greater self-awareness, communication, and compassion. Participants leave with practical tools to understand themselves and others better, navigate difficult emotions, and build relationships rooted in trust, respect, and connection.
