Jyoti Trataka – Yogic Cleansing Technique for Eyes and Mind

Tratak is one of the Shatkriyas (Six Yogic Cleansing Techniques). The aim of tratak is to gaze at an object without blinking eyes. This Kriya is effective in cleansing and strengthening the most important sense organ, our eyes. It helps to focus the mind and curb its oscillating tendencies by making it one pointed. It also has a purifying, invigorating effect on mind, helps to improve concentration leading to deeper meditative state.

For doing this Kriya, you will need:
1. Candle and Match Box
2. Small Stool/ Table
3. Dark Room

Yoga Teacher and Therapist

Ketki Gokhaleji is the founder of Atman Yoga Consultancy and has been teaching Yoga in the UK for more than 10 years focusing on Hatha Yoga, Yoga Therapy for ailments, Yogic Counselling and Veda Chanting. She has worked with corporate clients such as National Grid and provided tailored well-being programs to manage stress and anxiety at the workplace. She was visiting faculty at the Cambridge University Yoga Society and the London Ayurveda University. She has done Yoga Therapy and Masters degree in Yogic Science from SVYASA, Bangalore, Yoga Teacher's training from Yoga Vidya Niketan, Mumbai, and a Diploma in Yoga Philosophy from Mumbai University. Her Yoga philosophy is all about inclusion, expansion and evolution within and she loves working with people to create yoga journeys that motivate them to fulfill their ambitions.

Host, Journalist

Sophia has been a journalist for over 15 years, and she has been practising hatha yoga for 20 years. She completed a yoga and Vedanta course at the Sivananda Yoga and Vedanta Ashram in Netala, and she's been practising hatha yoga in the Iyengar and Krishnamacharya systems. She is currently studying Indian philosophy and is a regular journalist
