Weekend with Wisdom: Jnana Nishta in Bhagavad Gita by Swami Nikhilananda Saraswati

Karma Yoga, as taught by Bhagavan Shri Krishna, promotes individual and collective well-being while purifying the antahkarana. A purified mind, combined with a strong desire for liberation and guidance from a qualified teacher, enables the gainin22g of Self-knowledge. However, liberation requires firm abidance in this knowledge, known as Jnana Nishtha.

The eighteenth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, along with Bhagavan Shankaracharya’s commentary, explains the nature of Jnana Nishtha, the steps leading to it, and important questions concerning the nature and attainment of Self-knowledge.

In this talk, Swami Nikhilananda Saraswati will enunciate upon these questions related to Jnana Nishtha.

Swami Nikhilananda Saraswati

Swami Nikhilananda Saraswati is a distinguished teacher of Advaita Vedanta and a disciple of Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda Ji and Swami Paramananda Bharati Ji.

Born in Mumbai, his spiritual journey began with a deep interest in the lives and teachings of saints. While pursuing a Master’s degree in Geology, he developed a keen interest in the study of the scriptures. After completing the traditional Vedanta course at Sandeepani Sadhanalaya, Mumbai, he served Chinmaya Mission for 33 years, teaching Vedanta at centres in India and abroad.

Since July 2019, Swamiji has been guiding spiritual seekers independently from New Delhi. Known for his vast knowledge, subtle insight, and clarity of thought, he presents the profound teachings of Vedanta in a simple, rational, and accessible manner.

Swamiji has participated in several interfaith dialogues and international conferences, including the World Economic Forum at Davos in 2011. He was also invited to the White House in 2015 for the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge.

His teachings on the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Patanjali Yoga Sutras, and Prakarana Granthas are available through his online video talks and regular live discourses.
