Book Launch and Conversation | Aryaa

Indica is pleased to announce the release of another Anthology – “Aryaa – An Anthology of Vedic Women” . The Book will be launched in South Bangalore at The Indian Institute of World Culture, BP Wadia Road in collaboration with Meru Foundation for Indic Arts. Shri. Prakash Belawadi – Thinker, Actor, Film Maker and Shri. Achyutha Ananthamurthy, President, Meru Foundation of Indic Arts will grace the launch function, followed by a Conversation on the book with the Curator – Shivakumar GV.

Aryaa is curated by Shivakumar GV – Scholar in Residence at Indica and Consulting Editor for Indica Today. It contains 10 Stories covering 10 Characters written by 10 Authors.  It is a retelling of the stories of women from the Vedas, Upanishads and Itihasa-Puranas. It is a creative reimagination within the boundaries of our tradition. It is a labour of love and conviction that our civilization is an inspiration for all times to come. It is a celebration of the glorious role played by fascinating women in shaping our civilization over millennia.

We hope these narrations inspire a relook at old narratives and create fresh cultural conversations.

Shivakumar GV

Author, Curator

Shivakumar GV is an IT professional in the domain of Learning and Development, with a deep interest in Bharateeya Samskriti. He is part of the Indica fraternity as a Scholar-in-Residence at Indica, Consulting Editor for Indica Today and contributes to Indica Conferences. He is researching on Puranas to create frameworks for application in contemporary times and contributes to Indica Conferences. At IndicA Today he writes on Civilizational narratives, Mahabharata and anchors Kannada content. He is also one of the authors of ''Unsung Valour: Forgotten Wars of Kurukshetra'' - curated by SaiSwaroopa Iyer for Indica. Mahabharata, Rigveda, Bharatiya Itihasa-Purana and Civilizational Conflicts are his areas of interest. He is a BTech graduate from National Institute of Technology, Surat and an MTech from IIT Mumbai. He lives in Bangalore with his parents, wife and daughter. He is greatly inspired by the Rivers of India – Saraswatee in particular.

Shri. Prakash Belawadi is an Indian actor, and a director. He is the Managing Trustee and Founder of Center for Film and Drama which produces stage plays, conducts courses in Film making and acting.

Achyutha Ananthamurthy

President, Meru Foundation for Indic Arts

Achyutha is an entrepreneur, the co-founder and COO at Nija Venture Impacts Pvt. Ltd. He is a founding member and the first term president of Meru Foundation for Indic Arts, a trust dedicated to help rebuild dwindling traditional art forms by creating institutionalised support systems. He co-owns an exclusive children’s book store. Achyutha was also the Associate Editor of “CHANGE” a magazine totally dedicated to Change Management, BPR, TQM and ISO9000. He was a founder and Senior Consultant for “Symphony”, an organization dedicated to team building and stress management using adventure sports. He is also involved with some research projects on the Third Sector / NGO movement. He is an IRCA certified Lead Auditor for ISO 27001. He is an expert on IT Governance and Corporate Governance principles. A voracious reader, he trips on literature, culture, music, movies, theatre and traveling.
