The Problem of Intercultural Translation

Dear Scholars

You are invited to register for and join what is sure to be an interesting and intellectually stimulating workshop ”The Problem of Intercultural Translation”

Every language develops within a particular cultural milieu. Therefore, concepts and ideas found in one language may not be found in another. Professor M.S Chaitra and his research team at the centre for the study of cultures at Chanakya university (https://chanakyauniversity.in/our-faculty/), use the cultural rootedness of language as their starting premise to explore the problem of translating Indian and Western texts into each other’s respective languages.

A Workshop on Book Review

In the fast paced modern life coupled with easy accessibility of audiovisual mediums like movies, music and internet, somewhere the cerebral journey of an individual via the written words of the books has taken a backseat. Just as people watch the trailer of a movie before deciding whether they should hit the theatre to actually see it, in a similar manner book reviews today form an important part of decision making in picking a novel off the shelf.  Not only does a book review provide a broad outline of the story but also gives cues on the tonality and overall quality of the book.

In this context, Indica Today is holding workshops to take our authors through the finer nuances of book reviewing.  The first workshop will be held in the first week of February by Shri. Shivakumar GV, our in-house scholar and the second one by Dr. YoginiDeshpande, our ChiefEditor.  The duration of each workup will be 1.5 hours.

So if you are someone who loves to delve in the world of literature & books, with afondness to indulge in post-read analysis but lack the necessary articulation and structure, this workshop is designed to help you in honing your skills to becoming an unbiased and coherent reviewer.

Interested applicants are encouraged to register for the workshop before February 17, 2023

Workshop Timings:

21 Feb 2023 | 06:30 to 08:00 PM IST
