K Viswanath Memorial Short Film Contest Finale Screening

Kalatapasvi Sri Kasinadhuni Viswanath gari passing away was an irreparable loss to the Indian film industry.

Within weeks of his passing, Indica Pictures announced the K Viswanath Memorial Short Film Contest as a homage to the great auteur and thespian. The contest is a global contest with cash awards totalling 15 lakhs to top short films that capture the magic of Viswanath garu. After a humongous response of 1167 entries from 11 countries, we are now in the process of shortlisting the finalists. The winners will be announced at a Grand Finale event at 6pm on Nov 8th at the Prasad Preview theater on Road #2, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

Launch of Anveshana

INDICA and Dhi Artspace are proud to announce the launch of Anveshana, a Coffee Table Book produced under the auspices of Indica Culture Photography Grant 2021. Anveshana is focused on Vanavasi, Sancharavasi and Gramavasi Communities of India.

Anveshana is published under Indica’s Chitraayana platform. The vision of Chitraayana is to assemble a passionate and knowledgeable set of scholars and photographers, each one a storyteller and a Yaatri, to document and share India’s rich cultural heritage through a series of coffee table books.

Indica Pictures, a platform of Indica, nurtures filmmakers, photographers, and visual media professionals by providing research grants, hosting talks, workshops, courses, masterclasses and conducting the popular Indic Film Utsav. Indica Culture Photography Grant (ICPG) is focused on the emerging genre of Indian cultural photography (pilgrimages, handloom fabric/fashion, festivals, living traditions/rituals, indigenous people, food/cuisine and living art forms).

Dhi Artspace was envisioned as an incubator for young talents and a seamless space for dialogue on contemporary art that represents the emerging artists. An empirical centre for art-lovers and collectors, the gallery is committed to creating a discourse on art; with curated shows and a variety of workshops, exhibitions, talks, artist presentations, panel discussions and mentorship programmes that challenge the existing metric.

In June 2021, ICPG invited photographers to apply for the grant.
By September 2021, the ICPG 2021 Grantees consisting of Manish Lakhani, Sankar Sridhar, Sudip Maiti, Abdul Munaff, Isaac Gergan, Himadri Sharma (Late), Devika Sukumaran and Pubarun Basu were announced.
Financial grants totaling INR 5,00,000 were provided to the grantees.
The portfolios produced by the grantees were exclusively used to produce Anveshana, a coffee table book that is focused on Vanavasi, Sancharavasi and Gramavasi Communities of India.

Panel Discussion With Winning Filmmakers | Indic Film Utsav 2022

Indica Pictures is conducting a Facebook LIVE event on December 7th @ 830pm IST with the winning filmmakers from the recent Indic Film Utsav 2022. The 45 minute session is aimed at discussing the experiences of the 9 filmmakers regarding the idea-germination and challenges faced during the execution of their films.

Indic Film Utsav 2022

Indic Film Utsav is delighted to announce the 2022 slate of independent films. 50 films from 10 different languages that are mostly from India and all about India, have been lined-up for the viewing pleasure of audiences all over the world. As previously announced, Indic Film Utsav will be hosted on a highly secure DRM-enabled OTT platform. Films will be available starting from November 10th through to 13th. There is no Admission Fees for the entire event.
