The Path to Divine Mother

In this session, I wish to introduce the listener to a great shakta text known as Devi Mahatmyam. The main part will be the teaching and the practice of one of the integral parts of Devi Mahatmyam, the great hymn Tantroktam Devi suktam. This will be a great start on the path to Divine Mother and a perfect preparation for the Chaitra Navaratri which starts on March 22nd.

Vocal Yoga – Bringing the Mind Into the Heart

Vocal Yoga is a sound meditation based practice which benefits from the power of Indian Classical music and mantras. We travel through the sound into the different layers of consciousness until we find this resting peace where we can abide in Silence. Sound has an amazing power to quieten the mind and to connect us to our divine nature. Focusing on subtle vibration, we create harmony in ourselves and around us. Diving farther we can comprehend through the sound the beauty of this universe and its expressions. In this session, we will approach practically how sounds reverberate in our being, going through a specific raga scale and its mood, then we will expose our heart to the divine through chanting before listening to its response in Silence.

Yoga for Women’s Health & Hormonal Balance

Rushing through your everyday life, your hormones (and well-being) can pay a steep price for an accelerated pace of life and wrong lifestyle. When we talk about correcting hormonal imbalance, I believe we can’t achieve that without learning to cope with our stress. We work at such a crazed pace in our life, and our life is all focused on doing and doing—there is no surrender of being. Though we don’t face tigers every day, we live in constant state of fight-or-flight. Yoga can help all women elude the dangerous cycle of chronic stress which percolates down as hormonal imbalances. Yoga can also boost your vitality, make you feel energized, and find peaceful and calming bliss.

Need of the hour is to correct our wrong lifestyle. A consistent yoga practice supports women physically, emotionally, and spiritually—but adapting your practice to meet your needs at each juncture of life is vital. While you can enjoy a challenging yoga regimen at any age, you’ll get the most from a practice tailored to the present—in other words, customized for your stage in life and how you’re feeling on any given day. Taking time to be aware of what’s happening in your life, in your body, and with your emotions is the key to getting the most from what yoga can offer you, all through your life. ‘Awareness is the key factor for growth.’

So, this workshop is ideal for realigning your daily practices and learning what we are doing wrong because of which although we are spending lot of energy towards practices that should help gain optimal health yet we are not able to achieve it and feeling exhausted and hopeless…

Emotional Management

Emotions bind us. We struggle under their grasp, at times to the point of suffocation. How does one learn to manage the constant ebb and flow and storms and upheavals that happen at regular intervals? How does one learn to seek the constant and not be whisked away with the tide? Sri Ramana Maharishi’s Upadesha Saram gives us practical tools for understanding the nature of the mind and methods to resolve into a larger awareness. It shows us how to develop space between ourselves and our thoughts, thereby releasing us from our bondage to sadness.

Breadcrumb Trails of Yogic Knowledge

In this presentation, Teune will take you on a short journey, exploring the hidden clues that can be found in your everyday postural yoga class. Specifically, from a non-academic point of view and from a perspective outside of India. There are breadcrumbs of knowledge everywhere, hidden in plain sight. Simply looking at the denomination of your favorite style of yoga, the names of the poses and the mantras that accompany your sessions, for example, are great starting points. What are — to many of us practitioners — foreign names and words at first, can reveal layers of knowledge once we try to find out more about them. When the yoga enthusiast continues to enquire into the meaning of terms heard in class, a process of inward investigation is started which can expose a refreshing self-view rooted in the Indic Knowledge Systems, universal truth that is liberating and enlightening, revealing our greater reality.

Tasmat Yogi Bhava – Yoga in Gita

Bhagavad-Gita is a manual of life and shows us the relevance of many words and concepts in our day-to-day life. In the Gita, Lord Krishna has explained the concept of Yoga in a most unique way. The topic of Yoga comes in the Gita in various chapters. In this session, an attempt will be made to combine those instances and try to understand the concept of Yoga, as envisaged by Lord Krishna.
