According to the latest neuroscience researchers, fascias are like a huge net, sustaining the whole body and embracing all the organs. It has been discovered that some chronic pains like back pain could have their origin in a rigidity of the fascias. Fascias are very sensitive and tend to stiffen with stress and age. But the good news is that they can soften and be stimulated by movement and motion through yoga practice.

Yoga-Sutra Chanting Workshop (Sadhana-pada /Chapter-2)
This workshop is the second in a series on the Yoga Sutras. In the previous workshop, we learned to chant sutras from the Samadhi pada. In this workshop we will learn to chant the 55 sutras of the Sadhana pada.
Introduction:
In the universe, every object has a specific vibrational frequency. The condition of the object can be analysed through its frequency. It is said that the human body stays healthy if it lies at a frequency of 62-78MHz. Diseases start when the frequency drops down from this stipulated frequency. The drop-down in frequency will weaken the immune system, making the body vulnerable. The recitation of the yoga sutras can assist in maintaining the frequency of a healthy human body. Proper and conscious chanting can also establish mental balance and restore human health.
The Yoga-sutra contains 195 sutras divided into four chapters – Samadhi pada, Sadhana pada, Vibhuti pada and Kaivalya pada. Sutras carry a wealth of knowledge. These sutras are a glimpse of the experiential learning of Maharshi Patanjali, credited with this text, the most authentic source on Yoga philosophy. The recitation of those sutras is the beginning step in understanding the yoga sutra as a child learns only sounds in its initial growth. As Valmiki was initiated with the Rama mantra by Sage Narada, he went to a deeper understanding of the word that comes out as a Ramayana. Similarly, reciting the sutra will bring a profound experience of the text and transformation in oneself.
Objectives:
- To know the proper way of recitation of Sutra
- To understand the sutra meaning through conscious chanting
- To understand the phonetics of Sanskrit letters and words.
- To improve our Sanskrit pronunciation
- To attain mental balance and good health.
Expected outcomes:
- Improvement in the pronunciation of Indian languages
- Some understanding to split the words from complex forms.
- Easy to read and memorize the Sadhana pada of Yoga-Sutra.

Sthiram and Sukham are one of the oft quoted phrases from Patanjali. Balancing steadiness with ease in an asana (posture) or any aspect of life is easier said than done. This requires negotiating a fine balance between two opposing forces of effort and effortlessness. Sthira includes being firm, steadfast, static and alert while sukham involves being soft, joyful, dynamic and free. The question before us is that could these forces be reconciled to achieve a greater harmony at the physical, energetic and psychological levels. Yogasutra and other important yoga texts not only promise us about such a possibility but also offer a step-by-step guidance in achieving it.
In this retreat, we will explore the meaning of these two important concepts experientially through the study of the sutras, practice of asana, pranayama and trataka and with the chanting of the mantras. With a deeper insight into the working of these two forces, one would be better equipped to harness them to their advantage both on the mat and off the mat.
