In the Krishnamacharya tradition, Sage Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras are chanted in the style of Vedic Suktams. The grand master made the difficult-to-pronounce sutras into easy-to-pronounce words and added intonations for melodious chanting. The result is a sublime meditative experience. Yogrishi Sai has experimented with musical accompaniments (Harmonium and Tanpura) to further enhance the experience. He will be presenting the first chapter Samadhi Pada in this session.

The Patanjali Yoga sutras contain essential advice to live a more fulfilling and happier life. Seeds of Yoga is a music album that brings the essence of the text to the world – 18 sutras that form the essence of the text, organised into 5 thematic songs sung by leading artists, bringing the message straight to the heart. In a world where there are several explanations and commentaries for the Sutras, Seeds of Yoga is designed to bring the wisdom to life through experience
Maharishi Patanjali defines Yoga as the state of Samadhi where the various mental and cognitive processes become still and one experiences a deep state of silence within. When Yogic practices are taken up in a systematic manner and for sufficiently long period of time, one can experience transformation at the level of the body, mind, intellect and beyond. Some of these states of heightened awareness have been measured, in recent times, with the help of modern scientific techniques and instruments like EEG and MRI scans. These techniques show various regions of the brain that fire up when various yogic practices are done. These help to understand the underlying benefits of Yogic practices for brain health and thereby overall health and happiness.
While Yogic experience is subjective, modern scientific studies bring an objective view through appropriate design of experiments. Combining these two approaches can be benefit to researchers and practitioners of Yoga. This experiential retreat will expose participants to the Philosophy of Yoga through insights from the Yogasutra, simple yogic practices and an understanding of how these practices benefit health and happiness from a neuroscience perspective.

Nada Yoga interprets the cosmos through the medium of sound. Such a way of perceiving the world unites ancient myths and modern science. Its techniques lead to an increasingly refined tuning of our perception. The resonance produced by our vocal sounds have the potential not only to energise our body and mind, but also to heighten our awareness of the chakras. Nada means sound. It also means vibration, thus incorporating everything from the most seemingly solid to the most intangible, therefore our exploration of Nada must go beyond the limitations of human hearing to encompass wider concepts of harmony, balance and rhythm. In the session we will explore the path of Nada Yoga through the lens Pratyahara, Dharana and Dhyana.
